Sensei Jason D. Sandlin was born
November 17th 1975 in Danville, Illinois. He was born into a family
who has been practicing the Martial-Arts since the 1950’s, therefore Jason’s
training began at a very young age. Jason is now a 2nd degree Black
Belt in his family system of Jiu-Jitsu known as Sandlin-Ryu and is taught in 5
individual formats depending on the circumstances. He is a father of two boys
and hopes to pass this knowledge onto them.
Jason has competed in many different types of Martial-Arts competitions
and events since a child. He has competed in local, state and national
tournaments. He has fought Mixed Martial Arts, Kickboxing, Submission Fighting,
Light to Full Contact Sparring and Randori. He has also performed in fundraiser
benefits demonstrating breaking techniques as well as sparring, throwing and
grappling maneuvers.
Jason has helped in the teaching of his family system of Jiu-Jitsu throughout his career. In addition to helping instruct classes he has helped teach at many different programs such as the YWCA, Church Groups, Children and Recreational Programs. Jason also volunteered his time to be twisted, struck and thrown around in the photos of his brothers book “Complete Self Defense”.
