Sandlin Ryu A Family Martial Discipline Since 1970
Thank you for taking the time to visit our website. We are a family ran organization with locations in Illinois and Ohio.
Sandlin-Ryu was founded in 1970 by Chichi-Soke Oushi J. Sandlin. Sandlin-Ryu is our family philosophy of teaching and training in the Martial Arts. In 1970 Oushi Sandlin established his theory of Martial-Arts training. It became known as Sandlin-Ryu. After returning from his United States Marine Corps. tour of duty in the early 1970's he resumed teaching Sandlin Ryu in the Danville Illinois area where he still teaches today. The title Chichi-Soke represents that he is the Father of our family and the founder of our family Ryu or System of the Martial Arts. Mr. Sandlin was known as the Iron Bull since the 1960's and took the name of Oushi in the 1980's which means "Bull". He was given the nickname Iron Bull in his youth due to his fierce competitiveness and his "Bull" like nature and strength.
